Ripple In The Emptiness

about

Last December I got a new computer. Sadly it didn‘t accept my digital piano as a MIDI source, so I wasn‘t able to record the orchestral parts. I just found joy in playing around with orchestral sounds and just finished two other tracks from the album, so didn‘t want to stop there. To solve the problem I bought a new (smaller) MIDI controller, which lead to the fact that I now could make music in other places, due to its portability. One dark rainy evening in February I sat down and played around with different sounds from the #spitfireaudio LABS collection and then Ripple in the Emptiness happened. I really can‘t describe what I was thinking. It just happened. I started with the frozen violin sound, listened to it over and over until I heard some kind of melody hidden in the harmonics. Then I tried to emphasize this melody with the glass piano sound and so on. After a while it turned out to be a very atmospheric piece and I liked it so much that I released it instantly. This song is so special, because usually I tend to overthink stuff and plan my songs through. I fear that I could waste my time, if not everything I compose turns out to be a banger. That makes making music pretty hard sometimes. But Ripple in the Emptiness just happened and I‘m glad it did. I tried to make more stuff like this, but nothing was able to capture the energy of the moment quite like this piece.

So what is it about? Well, it’s about a ripple in the emptiness. Nothing more. The feeling that somewhere beyond the feeling of not being able to feel something, there is this disturbance shaking the emptiness, yet unable to fill it with something, which might be a feeling, a thought or something else.
