The whole ripple-cycle started with this song: Ripple In The Cosmic Firmament. It was the year 2020. I had a few bucks left and bought an 8-string guitar. By that time me and my former band Kings Of Forlorn Lands wanted to change directions and experiment with new sounds. As some of you might know it never worked out, but during learning what I can do with that new instrument Ripple In The Cosmic Firmament happened. It may not be the most elaborate or complicated song I‘ve ever written. It focuses mainly on the atmosphere and learning how to use and mix the new extended range of the eight-string. It was the first full song I‘ve ever written on an 8-string guitar and the first song ever with a full orchestral arrangement. So double the experiment here. Today I would do some things differently, but I‘m very happy how it turned out. I really like how the drive and forward pushing groove turned out to be and the final orchestra part is very dear to my heart. Also it is a very special song to me since it kind of broke my writers block, at least for a short time.

The song is about a disturbance in space and time that creates a wave, rippling the cosmic firmament. That wave provides a chance to be carried away from all the things you cannot stand anymore. So it‘s about leaving stuff behind, moving on, fleeing or hiding from that which you cannot cope with.
